How pool volume is calculated
Rectangular pool
Volume = Length × Width × Average depth
Round pool
Volume = π × (Diameter ÷ 2)² × Average depth
Oval pool
Volume = π × (Length ÷ 2) × (Width ÷ 2) × Average depth
Kidney pool
Volume = 0.45 × (Length + Width) × Width × Average depth
Average depth = (Shallow end + Deep end) ÷ 2. The result is in cubic metres, which we convert: 1 m³ = 1,000 litres = 264.17 US gallons = 219.97 imperial gallons.
